PON was appointed to provide a design and build service to help achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating for this new build, two storey wooden framed block for reception, years 3, 4, 5 and 6 classrooms, meeting rooms, cloakrooms, state of the art ICT training and main electrical/HVAC plant rooms.
Works also featured modification of existing, main incoming electrical supply, classroom detection and daylight switching and microwave detection to corridors. Interactive white boards activated by eight core fibre interconnecting cable; voice and data Cat 5e cabling installed from existing systems to new building; radio fire alarm system; CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and Cat 5e web based systems; Photo Voltaic installation and BMS wiring for controlling HVAC systems formed a key part of the project.
Mechanical works included main incoming including gas, water and electrical mains power, and new plant room housing gas boilers, low temperature hot water ancillary plant including pumps, booster set and BMS control systems. Classrooms and main areas feature underfloor heating, whilst ventilation is provided by an heat recovery air handling unit, mounted at roof level.
